Christmas came early for us this year! Our first ever Changing Tides Foundation: Casual For A Cause Day, was a huge success. It took place at St. Brendan Elementary School in Miami, Florida on November 16, 2016. It was organized by the 4th and 5th grade classes at the school after they selected us as the charity of their choice for fundraising for the 2016/17 school year.
The idea is simple: For a $3.00 donation, any student in the whole school can elect to wear their casual street clothes instead of their school uniforms on a selected day. The end result was a $1,695.00 donation to benefit Changing Tides Foundation!
Just a couple of days ago, CTF co-founder Becky Mendoza visited the school, where she was presented the donation check and spoke to the 4th and 5th grade students about the issues that we plan to address in our 2017 projects: Clean Water, Gender Inequality and the Trash Crisis. The students were fascinated to learn more about these global issues and were excited to hear that they will be able to decide which project their donation will fund. They will continue to fundraise for CTF for the remainder of the school year. We cannot thank the students, parents, teachers and faculty at St. Brendan Elementary School enough for supporting this effort!
