We are so proud to have participated in the Skate Rising event this past Saturday, April 13 down at the Encinitas Skate Plaza. Skate Rising is the free youth program of Exposure Skate which teaches and empowers young girls through service and skateboarding. With April being Earth Month, the theme focused on protecting our planet by partnering with us at Changing Tides Foundation. The event welcomed 60-70 young girls between the ages of 4 to 18 years old together to learn and ride skateboards and to learn more about single-use plastic pollution.
Of course, we opened with the Plastic Swear Jar Challenge. With the help of the young lady ambassadors of Skate Rising, Aubrey and Kirra Kelsey taught the girls about our Plastic Swear Jar Challenge and what they represent by being aware and taking accountability explaining the damages of what single-use plastic can do. The girls then flocked the tables set up with reusable glass jars and crafts, so they could dig in and a create their own personal PSJ jar to take part in for the up and coming challenge that starts on April, 22nd in honor of EARTH DAY!
The girls were now ready and prepared so they went go skate and learn new tricks around the park with the learn-to-skate clinic run by professionals from Skate Rising. What an epic day to be a part of! Thank you for all the fun times... we can't wait for the next Skate Rising Event!
