Throwback Feature: Picture Organic Clothing Teams Up With Changing Tides

In 2019, Changing Tides  partnered with environmentally conscious surf brand Picture Organic Clothing to support the Women’s Outreach Mentorship Program (WOMP) in El Salvador. This collaboration combined the shared passion for surfing, environmental stewardship, and community empowerment.

Picture Organic Clothing provided funds, wetsuits, and boardshorts, helping Changing Tides bring mentorship, surfing skills, environmental education, and clean water initiatives to the girls of Las Flores. For local surfer Sindy and her community, this partnership meant more opportunities to surf, support one another, and create positive change—both in the ocean and on the beach.

At the time, Changing Tides’ Executive Director Becky Mendoza reflected: “We are excited that through the assistance of partners like Picture Organic Clothing, we will be able to initiate a WOMP in El Salvador, in an effort to empower the young girls of Las Flores through our love for surfing, the ocean and the planet.”

This historic feature highlights the early international work of Changing Tides, a mission born in 2016 to connect travelers and surfers with meaningful ways to give back, care for the environment, and uplift communities.
